Citizen science is increasingly used to engage the public in scientific processes, raising awareness and promoting action on major societal challenges. Beyond data collection, it represents a powerful approach for the democratization of science, fostering collaboration between scientists, citizens, and stakeholders.
INSTIL focuses on the role of ICT-based tools and solutions—including software platforms, mobile applications, sensor systems, serious games, and eScience applications—that enable and support citizen participation in science.
In many cases, these tools represent practical and impactful outcomes, and INSTIL aims to provide a venue where these experiences can be shared, discussed, and valued.
The workshop covers the full spectrum of citizen (e)science activities, from science communication to the active involvement of citizens and stakeholders in the co-design and co-development of systems for data collection, validation, analysis, and knowledge extraction.
A particular focus is on applications related to environmental monitoring, climate, and sustainability, while contributions from other domains are also welcome.
This is the 3rd edition of the INSTIL workshop.
